How to Write an Essay Article

An essay article is a piece of writing that discusses a topic or issue in a way that informs, educates and/or persuades readers. It can be descriptive, argumentative, explanatory or narrative in nature. It can also be a literary analysis, or a personal reflection on an event or topic. While articles and essays have some common features, they are distinct forms of writing that require different types of research and analyses.

The key difference between an essay and an article is the intent. An essay is designed to convey a specific message, and the writer decides what that will be. It could be that they are trying to convince people to take a particular action, purchase a product or vote for one candidate over another, for example. In this case, the first paragraph of an essay would state the argument or opinion that they are trying to make. This is known as the premise. The next paragraph would describe how they came to this conclusion, giving reasons and evidence to support it. Finally, the writer would state their final stance or opinion in the last paragraph of the essay.

To write an essay article, you need to start with a good research plan. This should involve reading primary and secondary sources to understand the issue from different points of view and to develop your own argument or position on the subject. It is a good idea to use brainstorming techniques such as freewriting to come up with lots of ideas for your essay. This allows you to recognize connections between various facets of your topic that might not have been apparent at first.

Creating a title for your essay is important as well, as it will set the tone and focus of the work. For instance, you might want to write about the impact of globalization on culture and language or the influence of technology in the classroom. Once you have a clear understanding of your topic, it’s time to start writing. It’s important to keep your audience in mind as you do this, as it can change how you approach the essay and what evidence you choose to present.

If your target audience is the general public, you may want to consider writing an article, as it typically uses straightforward language and simple structure. On the other hand, if you are trying to explore a subject in depth or share your personal experiences, an essay might be more appropriate.

When citing your essay, you must include the full author name, the date and the page number. You must also create a running head, placing it in the right upper corner of the page, and skip a few lines before adding your essay’s title (in all caps). Then add the following: Your name, the course, your professor’s name, the university, the city, and the date.
